Untitled (Pt 9)

Taken from the same set as the one in this post. But my cousins seem to really like this picture so I thought I'd share it with everyone as well. Done ala Dave Hill again but with a twist. After applying the DH style, I continued by desaturating the image and overlaying another color layer to create the sephia look. Good or no good?

Gadong outing

Taken during the walkabout today with the other photogs. The turnout was surprisingly quite good considering it was a last minute thing. Hope you all like 'em.

Empty

The biggest headache in doing a mono conversion like this is trying to get the shadows (and other dark areas) "correct". Since I have yet to get my LCD screen color calibrated, what I see on my screen as being fine and acceptable may look totally off to other people on their screens. It can be somewhat of a 'hit and miss' affair whenever I try to do these black and white conversions. Tell me what you think.

An addition to the bag

This lens wasn't initially on my wishlist but after testing out airbiscuit's 85mm f/1.4, I was tempted to get something similar to complement the 50mm f/1.8 already in the kit bag. Ok, so maybe its not the f/1.4 version but early tests suggest that my new Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 can potentially be another one of those lenses that I can have plenty of fun with. I already have the 18-200mm VR which IS part of the wishlist and the one lens that I use for practically 99% of the shots I've taken over the past month. Yes, its THAT good!

Next on the list is the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle (and HOPEFULLY the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR). I can already hear the likes of airbiscuit and souljah screaming at me whilst reading this, egging me to get the VR monster. To be honest, it is in the pipelines. Who knows...I might just turn up one of these Sundays with it. :p

Consequently, since I'm running out of space in my bag, I've got a Nikon Nikkor 18-135mm (with UV filter) and a Nikon 70-300mm up for sale. I'd actually like to keep these excellent lenses but I think it would make better sense to sell them to someone who might actually use them rather than have them become homes for a colony of fungi. So if anyone is interested, e-mail me for further details.

For a someone out there!

ALWAYS!!!

A final sweeping gesture to someone who was a huge part of my life.

Painting with light. Taken straight from the camera.

Fireworks

The collage below consists of the JPEGS that came straight from the camera. Couldn't be arsed to do any post-processing to the RAW files. Just your standard resize and crop. No sharpening, noise reduction or color correction. Oh well...

Night shoot

FIFTEEN! That's how many photogs turned up last night for the night shoot. While waiting for the rain to die down, everyone gathered @ CB for a pre-shoot 'minum'. The meeting was interesting, to say the least...what with everyone on the look-out for the she-shooters! hahaha! Below are some of the pics from last night. Im sure the others will post up better ones pretty soon so blog-hop to your favorite sharpshooter's site now and see if they went!

Creamy bokeh

I forgot I kept this image taken during the macro outing a while back. I was testing out airbiscuit's Nikon 85mm f/1.4 lens and took a few random shots of stuff around us while we were taking a breather. Ok so the composition's not so good but I was more concerned with the bokeh the lens produced. Bloody creamy, don't you think? Looks like someone took the background, stuffed it into a blender and pureed the hell out of it! Yummy!

Bridex

Brunei International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX) 2007. Ok so I may be the last to post anything from Thursday's launch held at the ICC. Better late than never, I suppose. Anyways, below are just some of the pics. I particularly like the first one of His Majesty being briefed by an exhibitor from Pakistan. I like it because I don't remember how I got that 'zoom blur' effect coz that's how it looked straight out of the camera! Hope to post up more into the on-line gallery soon!
